Parents say it was the best yet!! But every year people say this and so at Multikids we continue to push the boundaries exploring the creative potential of our small inclusive school. In December 2017, we took to the streets for the first time ever, with serious police escort! You can see from the pictures that we had an exquisite time, dancing, singing, shaking the vibes of a term's work. With a focus on traditional mythology, we made costumes from recycled plastics, learned traditional cuban dances and rhythms and created poetry and text to share with our audience. Parents too got up and learned a few steps. Big thanks to:

2017 @ Multikids

At the end of academic year 2016/17 we celebrated our students' achievements with a day of prizes, music, drama and commendations.

Sean Pobee introduced the event with a moving speech which summed up a few important events of the year. Every student gained a certificate and prize for his/her striking accomplishment. Three students graduated - Merita, Ivan and Malya. Congratulations to these wonderful young people. We wish them all the very best in their future chosen careers.

EMBRACE- Christmas end of term show

The end of term show dubbed "Embrace" showed off the talents of our students. Following a theme of Small steps Big changes, teachers and students worked hard to put together their ideas to show how important it is for us to work towards raising awareness of global issues and creating action towards making changes.

Each class chose a global issue they were passionate about , some of these included: Endangered Animals; Recycling; Human rights; and Conservation. The students then conveyed their messages through poetry, dance, acting and music.

Special thanks to visiting artists Daniel Vais, a social choreographer  and producer Robert Grey, for their passion, talent and direction. They both immense amount of effort in helping put the whole show together and providing a space where the students could express themselves freely. In true multikids style it was all about the kids.

What a fantastic end to the year!

Multikids End of Season Performance 2014

Multikids ended the 2014 year with another wonderful End of Season Performance from the Lower Primary and the Main School.

The Lower Primary produced an entertaining show titled "Songs of the Season", showcasing their wonderful musical skills, which was really fun and enjoyed our afternoon very much.

Fatric this year produced the Main School performance, titled "My Space, My World", combining a projection presentation of visual arts and photography, with our annual fashion parade and individual group performances of HipHop dance and singing.

Multikids Has a New School Bus!

Top Photo: Our new school bus!
Top Photo: Our new school bus!

We are honoured to have received this donation from the Bank of Ghana. This bus is long awaited and it what a  wonderful Christmas gift for the school! We are indebted to Fiona Kamau, Sallassi Dzillah,Abigail and Kojo Asante-Abedi and their son Baffour, who is in S1. Baffour got the ball rolling by mentioning that Multikids needed a bus to the right people in the right places! This was after our old faithful bus broke down in late 2013. His earnest request fell on receptive ears and was followed up by Mandy, Fiona, Sallassi and the Asante-Abedi family with rigour. As you can imagine the paperwork and procedures are endless.  The Bank too were rigorous in ensuring that Multikids deserved such a donation. It was a surprise to us all that the bus is so big! No more endless journeys to Lizzie Sports ferrying individual classes to their Sports lessons.  Also our school journeys this year will be more affordable to parents since we will not have to hire a coach. All in all we feel very lucky and very honoured. Now to put our logo on the bus and let the whole of Accra see that Every Child Matters.

University Visits and Fairs

University visits and fairs are an important part of the programme for the university track students. Our students either go out to fairs or we have representatives of various universities in, which is a good opportunity for the reps to see our students and get to know the school. Emporia State University from Kansas in the USA was our first visit this term. Students got to interact with Stene Verhulst, Emporia State’s Director of International Recruitment and learn about the degree programmes on offer and the philosophy of education at the university. We also got an invitation to a presentation by a rep from Lafayette University, which is in Pennsylvania in the USA.

This year Multikids Academy was invited to the British Council University Fair for International Schools. We got introduced to a range of universities such as University of Birmingham, Coventry University, De Montford University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Middlesex University and The University of Northampton – great opportunities for further study in the UK.

Our final fair for the term was the annual Council of International Schools Fair held at Lincoln Community School this year. Secondary 4 and Secondary 5 students got to interact with reps from many Canadian and American universities as well as a few from other countries. There were 20 universities in all.  Some of the universities present were Agnes Scott University (USA), Guelph University (Canada) and Yale/National University of Singapore (Singapore).

Chefs for Change

Chefs for Change came to Multikids on Wednesday following their journey around Accra to feed the hungry and homeless. Multikids raised some money to donate to the cause. The cheque was presented to the founder of Chefs for Change, Chef Elijah Addo by two students who study cooking.

Multikids has a vibrant community outreach programme which initiated the fund raiser.

More information:

2014 Annual School Residential Journeys

The school journeys this year took place at Cape Coast. Students stayed at Hans Cottage Botel. The students visited Elimna Castle, Kakum National Park, and an Ostrich Farm to see the world’s fastest running bird!

Photo of students attending their excursion at various locations

The Lower Primary took a trip to the Accra Zoo in June 2014, which was both fun and educational. At the Zoo, the children saw monkeys, crocodiles, ostriches, birds, parrots, peacocks, boars, antelopes, donkeys, camels, snakes, tortoises, and many others. The children were excitied to see the animals that they had been learning about and were able to name many of them. It was  a wonderful experience to see everyone so happy whilst also learning!

PTA Fundraiser Walk

The PTA organized a walk in Legon Botanical Gardens to raise money for the library. The Library has been upgraded with books classified and ordered. We are now saving for a digital lending system. The walk was a tremendous success due to the effort of all those who turned out despite fuel shortages. Thank you to staff, who excelled to provide great refreshments, aerobics and worked hand in hand with parents to map out a good early Saturday morning walk.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser which raised a great GHS 4.894.00!!

Many thanks to all who contributed generously. One parent remarked that her family were inspired to contribute a sizeable amount by the dedication displayed by Multikids staff to make the event so memorable!

Drama Performance: She Said, He Said Type of Event

Stevie Mensah wrote and produced 'He Said, She Said Type of Event', where he and the expressive arts team worked hard over the course of the term to put together this musical drama. The subject of the drama explored the isolation experienced by Albino people in Ghana. We were honored to host a representative from the Albino Society at James Town Community Theatre where the production was performed.

Football Friendly Match: Multikids v British International School

Multikids students and teachers spent an afternoon playing a friendly football match with British International School at Lizzy Sports. This event is the start of a future partnership between the two schools, both to play sports and to be part of an International Schools Link called Connecting Classrooms.

Careers Week 2014

Careers Week was launched by an exciting presentation from Raphael Botsyo (Ghanaian Olympic Wheechair Track Athelete and Board member) on his career as an athelete.  Other events included a presentation on Eco farming, excursions to TV3 and Lancaster University, and a Tye & Dye workshop. Students had the opportunity to learn about different courses (from SIMT and NAFTI) and careers. ASDAN students shared their work experience in a dynamic presentation. Thank you to all contributors.

End of Season Celebration 2013

All parents and friends who attended this event would agree that it was a wonderful night, which displayed the talents of our students and dedicated staff. We were honoured by the presence of the Honourable Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, and there was much excitement and anticipation during the set up by the visits of the advane security team.

The Lower Primary held their own performance presention called Colours of the Season – a big thank you to Nana Akua, who produced a delightful celebration performance.

A Thank you also to Fatima (Multikids Chef) for the fantastic Christmas lunch done in true style.
